Geographic Information Systems and Parallel Processing of Spatial Data
نویسنده
چکیده
With the enormous amount of data available for geographic spatial analysis, parallel processing enhances the capabilities for processing large amounts of data and intensive computer bound algorithms. The author examines data structures, load balancing, data partitioning, algorithms, and performance for Geographic Information/Imaging Systems. The R-tree data structure and Triangulated Irregular Network TIN derived from a (Regular Square Grid) RSG is examined along with the Nearest Neighbor, TIN, and clustering algorithms.

An analysis of cultural land use spatial distributions using geographic information system in District 3 of Tehran Municipality
This research has been conducted with the aim of analyzing the spatial distribution of existing cultural land use in district 3 of Tehran Municipality and proposal for new site selection for cultural land use in this district. After studying previous researches on the issues of land use and site selection, 13 indicators for locating cultural land use were identified then by using distance mappi...
متن کاملA parallel computing approach to viewshed analysis of large terrain data using graphics processing units
Viewshed analysis, often supported by Geographic Information Systems (GIS), is widely used in many application domains. However, as terrain data continue to become increasingly large and available at high resolutions, data-intensive viewshed analysis poses significant computational challenges. General-Purpose computation on Graphics Processing Units (GPGPU) provides a promising means to address...
متن کاملSpatial Analysis of Regional Resilience in Geographic Information Systems with a Planning Approach Eastern Region of Urmia Lake
The resiliency approach has the potential to pay attention to the sustainability paradigm in the area of planning in different dimensions and sectors as a new shadow approach to local policies with a global approach to regional development. However, the concept of resilience has emerged over the past years as an emerging approach to environmental planning and management literature. In this...
متن کاملParallel and Distributed GIS for Processing Geo-data: An Overview
Geographic Information System (GIS) is a collection of applications whose tasks include (collaborating with other systems and) gathering geographic data, store and process spatio–temporal data (geo-data) and share the derived geographic knowledge with the users and other applications. Some of the most important routine applications of GIS are spatial analysis, digital elevation model (DEM) anal...
متن کاملAn approach to fault detection and correction in design of systems using of Turbo codes
We present an approach to design of fault tolerant computing systems. In this paper, a technique is employed that enable the combination of several codes, in order to obtain flexibility in the design of error correcting codes. Code combining techniques are very effective, which one of these codes are turbo codes. The Algorithm-based fault tolerance techniques that to detect errors rely on the c...
